At URI, student success is a shared commitment. The Retention and Academic Success Center brings together programs, services, and support strategies designed to help students navigate their transition to the University, strengthen their academic experience, and stay connected throughout their journey.
Through First-Year Experience, Transfer Student Success, Early Alert Services, Retention Programs (Starfish), and data-informed student support practices, the center works collaboratively with students and campus partners to promote persistence, belonging, and achievement.

Our Mission
The University of Rhode Island’s Retention and Academic Success Center collaborates with campus partners to champion student persistence, belonging, and achievement. We cultivate a culture of collaboration, equity, and excellence through meaningful student experiences, intentional programming, innovative student success technologies, and personalized coaching and support. By aligning data-informed practices with our unwavering commitment to each student’s journey, we strengthen retention, close equity gaps, and enhance academic success while always recognizing that true achievement is defined by the student’s own goals and aspirations.
