The URI Foundation, the URI Research Foundation and the URI Division of Research and Economic Development annually recognize exceptional members of the University of Rhode Island with their prestigious Excellence Awards.
Since 2012, the University has been honoring the recipients of the URI Foundation, the URI Research Foundation and the Division of Research and Economic Development Excellence Awards in a joint, formal recognition ceremony traditionally held in May during commencement week.
URI Foundation Excellence Awards
The URI Foundation Excellence Awards were first established in 1970 to honor University staff members for their dedication and commitment. The awards were later expanded to include additional categories of individuals who demonstrate excellence in their respective areas and whose work positively impacts the entire University community.
Four individuals are selected to receive an award—one in each of the following categories:
- Administrative Excellence
- Scholarly Excellence
- Staff Excellence
- Teaching Excellence
