The University of Rhode Island will celebrate the opening of the Richard E. Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The $68 million center is named for Richard Beaupre ’62, Hon. ’03. Mr. Beaupre is founder and chief executive officer of the Lincoln-based photochemical etching company ChemArt, celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The Beaupre Center will house research and teaching space designed to foster innovation and teamwork, completing the Life and Health Sciences Quadrangle in the North District of the University’s Kingston Campus. It will provide the infrastructure necessary to prepare students for jobs in growth fields such as health sciences, biotechnology, energy, life sciences, pharmacy, nursing and technology.
This facility bearing Mr. Beaupre’s name is a tribute to a remarkable inventor, entrepreneur and longtime supporter of URI. For his commitment to the University and its students, we are eternally grateful.
