Hundreds of students participated in URI’s celebration of the National Day on Writing, Friday, October 20. With the theme of Write for your Life (#writeforyourlife), students could visit up to 5 stations to get their passports stamped. Students wrote on the Graffiti Wall;visited the Writing Center; listened to writers reading from their work; participated in some fun writing activities; and/or walked along the route of the Giving Tour. Writing Across URI joined with the Writing Center, First-Year Writing, and the Department of Writing and Rhetoric to organize the day, one to become an annual event. Inviting students to consider #whyIwrite is one way to expand their notions of writing beyond classroom assignments. It was a beautiful day!
