URI’s Writing Across the Curriculum Summer 2021 Seminar

Apply for the Writing Across the Curriculum Seminar — Summer Intensive 2021

Writing Across URI is pleased to offer a Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Seminar in May/June 2021. Upon completion, participants receive $1,000 in either summer recontracting or professional development funds.

  • Are you sometimes frustrated by student writing?
  • Do you want to ask more of your students as writers?
  • Do you want students to write more but dread the time you’ll spend on grading?
  • Are you unsure of the kind of writing activities that would fit your course?
  • Do you want to brainstorm ways to assign more inclusive writing assignments?
  • Do you want to propose a Write Effectively course for the general education program?

If you answered YES to one or more of these, the WAC Seminar is for you.

This seminar explores strategies and practices any faculty member can use to help their students develop as writers. Participants will design a new writing assignment that includes scaffolding and peer review opportunities. Individual consultations will be held throughout the seminar to further support this design work.

The seminar will take place at the Bay Campus, May 24, 26, 27, and June 2 & 3 (5 sessions) from 9:00 am-12:00 pm each day.

If interested, please apply here by Friday, April 23

The Summer 2021 WAC Seminar is co-sponsored by the Office for Advancement in Teaching and Learning.
