World Language Education, B.A.

The World Languages program will educate our students to become reflective teachers committed to global citizenship, social justice, and multicultural education. Upon completion of our program and after successfully completing the licensure tests, our well-prepared graduates will be ready to apply for the Rhode Island World Language teacher certification in grades K-12. The standard program of study that our candidates will follow will allow them to graduate from URI with a double major in Education and in a Foreign Language, developing the necessary language proficiency in the language of their choice by completing coursework in a World Language. World Languages programs offered at URI depend on the College of Arts & Sciences and currently include majors in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Global Language and Studies –which includes coursework in Arabic studies, Classical studies and Japanese studies. The language major graduation requirements are determined by the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures.
