Undergraduate degrees for all Nursing majors will be presented at this ceremony. Students will walk across the stage and receive their diplomas from the deans. Professional photos will be taken of each student’s big moment and will be available from Grad Images.
Tickets are required for this ceremony. Tickets will be distributed by the College of Nursing. Students will be contacted directly with details and pick up date.
2019 Gonfalon Bearer
Emely Baez
Major: Nursing
The College of Nursing is delighted to honor Emely as the 2019 Gonfalon carrier. While taking a global health course with pharmacy, health sciences and other nursing students in Indonesia, there was a specific moment when Baez knew she made the right choice when deciding her future career path. She has been on educational trips to Tanzania, Argentina, Indonesia and Jamaica, which solidified her desire to work in the field of public health in other countries. The support of the faculty from her College and other departments provided defining and impactful moments because they reinforced what she had learned in the classroom and taught her how it relates to the real world. Her long-term goal is to work for an organization like the World Health Organization (WHO) or Doctors Without Borders, where she can implement change on a larger scale.

The ceremony will begin in Mackal Field House, rain or shine, following the main ceremony. Visitors should park in the Plains Road parking lot (Parking lot 25).
