The mission of the Office of Emergency Management is to administer a comprehensive all-hazards-based institution-wide integrated emergency management program that addresses four phases: mitigation/prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery and to facilitate homeland security programs such as intelligence and information sharing. Emergency Management strives to assist other internal and external units to provide for a safe and secure learning environment.

Emergency Protective Actions

The following eight minute video has been produced by the University of Rhode Island.  This video provides useful information on what to do during a threat on campus.  It also includes the terminology used by the University’s Department of Public Safety.  In addition to this video you can also schedule a training through our office, and we encourage you to do so.

All members of the community — students, faculty, staff and visitors — are encouraged to view the video to be better prepared to help themselves and others in an emergency. Also visit our Emergency Protective Actions Page
