The Northeast Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professorate (NEAGEP) is a made-up of a consortium of schools committed to the recruitment, retention, and graduation of underrepresented minority students (i.e., African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders) in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, there are two primary objectives of the NEAGEP program:

  • To develop and implement innovative models for recruiting, mentoring, and retaining minority students in STEM doctoral programs.
  • To develop effective strategies for identifying and supporting underrepresented minorities who want to pursue academic careers.
