Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Candidates are nominated by their department or program and must be full-time graduate students in good academic standing.
The University offers Diversity Awards to qualified candidates whose backgrounds and scholarship would enrich the URI community.
Given to graduate students in recognition of achievement and promise as scholars, fellowships enable students to pursue graduate studies and research without rendering service to the University.
Recommendations for the appointment of teaching, research and administrative assistants are usually made by individual departments or programs. Service to the University is expected.
