After a national search, the URI Physical Therapy Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Konin, PT, PhD, ATC, FACSM, FNATA as Department Chair.  Dr. Konin comes to URI from Eastern Connecticut State University.  He has over fifteen years experience in Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant education, and is active in scholarly research, academic textbook publications and national and international presentations.

Dr. Konin’s research interests include injury prevention in sport, orthopedic injury assessment, and youth and parental sportsmanship. He has extensive administrative experience, and has served on and chaired various committees throughout his career at departmental, college, and university-wide levels, as well as for professional associations and healthcare related businesses.

The URI Physical Therapy Department is excited to welcome Dr. Konin to the faculty and look forward to his contributions in the classroom and beyond.
