Sports Medicine

• Kinesiology majors can go onto do a lot of professions

o   Show people about the different kinds of positions and careers available

o   How to be successful in health professions

o   Educate people interested in health care professions

o   Provide Assistance, networking and with experience others

• Advisor: Andy Laguna

o   Football team trainer

o   Has many connections

• All volunteers
• Fundraisers/involvement/awareness

o   Breast cancer/Diabetes

• Elections

o   Problem last time, election procedures weren’t followed

o   Update: procedures were followed

o   President: Christopher Recine

Passed 6-0-1 Recognized as Category A

 

 

Irish Step Dancing Club

• Brand new club

o   Passed years, not much interest

o   This year, there’s a much more involved and organized group of students

o   Bring together: alumni, currently competing dancers, interested parties

o   URI Dance Company approved an Irish Step dancing

• Elections

o   Held with 4 other members

o   Will have to redo elections

• Meetings

o   Haven’t started having meetings yet, don’t have reserved spaces

• Category R
• No other group like Irish Step Dancing

 

 

Wrestling Club

• 20 interested students

o   Most students have had experience wrestling but encouraging new members as well

• Used to have a wrestling club

o   Mats and equipment already available

• May have fees to pay for transportation and equipment
• CSIC

o   SOARC is recognizing Wrestling Club as an organization

o   If wrestling decides to join Club Sports, Wrestling Club will need to apply to CSIC

• Risk Management

o   Needs to get waivers from Risk Management since Wrestling is a physical contact sport

• Purpose

o   Currently a “Wrestling for a hobby club”

o   Category R since it is not a skill teaching group that requires budgeted funding

o   May get a volunteer instructor

• Elections still need to hold actual elections following the correct procedures
