COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:
- Everyone fill out a white commuter form in one of their classes
- Meeting with Nancy, author of “Living Right In Narragansett” Feb. 11th
- Meeting with Katrina
- Concerned that the Living Right In Narragansett guide is “negative”
- Committee members should highlight certain areas of concern
- Living in Narragansett: A student Guide for Off-Campus Living 2010-2011
o We believe it is a great booklet
o Committee will edit
o Try to make look nicer
o Change name to “Living Off-Campus” instead of just Narragansett.
- Fund Commuter Activity every week (maybe 1 hour every week, like free coffee in commuter lounge… etc.)
o Maybe every Weds. Or Thursday
- Find out when the commuter lounge is most used: talk to building managers
o Maybe 12-1
- Got list from Enrollment Services, but we do not fill it accurately represents how many students live in each area (eg: it says only 400 Narragansett residents)
- Commuter Website: Living Large off Campus
- Website slides: we may edit it
- Recycling issue in Narragansett- call rental agencies for information on that.
- Maybe we can create Recycling flyer
- March 20th- Commuter Housing Fair
- Blow-up bouncy thing for Commuter appreciation day
- Outside union to get people into the union to fair
- Get ticket for blow up bouncy thing from fair
- Goal: increase number of attendants at fair
- 1 MONTH TO GET EVERYTHING TOGETHER
o Maybe have students leave with bag of popcorn or something that says “Check out this website…”
- Or… have carnival on quad……
- Rockwell Amusements- we contacted them today and they will be returning our next Monday.
- Maybe charge students
- Talk to slow foods about vendors
- Concerned about the RIPTA fee
- $50/semester on student activity fee
- We think, we’re cool with it, but they need to do a weekend night service to down the line from URI….
- Concerned about the RIPTA bus route. (Westerly not covered, Charlestown, etc.)
- Would this reduce price of commuter parking stickers?
- Also need to account for Gym fund
