Biography

Karl H. Calvo joined URI on in June 2019 as the Assistant Vice President of Facilities and is responsible for the planning, real estate activities, all construction (capital and small projects) for URI’s four main campuses and facilities maintenance.

Prior to joining URI, Karl led national facilities workforces at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard. He is a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Karl is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT and the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, IL with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School Senior Managers in Government Program and is a certified Project Management Professional and certified Facility Manager.
