The Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum is a ‘zero to six’ program, which means you begin as a freshman and complete the program in six years, graduating with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The program stresses critical thinking, active learning and clinical experience to prepare you for practice in a variety of professional settings.

Major Entry Requirements

  • Prospective majors must complete three semesters (45 credits) and have an overall GPA of at least 3.00 to be admitted into the professional curriculum
  • Complete the following courses: COM 100, ECN 201, PHL 212, and WRT 106
  • Complete URI 101
  • Note: This review is done twice a year, once after Spring grades and again after Summer grades.

Additional requirements for students who entered as freshmen (0 – 6):

  • After two years of pre-professional coursework, students are required to have a minimum 2.70 grade point average in the following required math science courses (CMB 201, 202 and 311; BIO 110, 103, 220, 221, 222, and 223; CHM 101, 102, 112, 114, 226, 227, and 228; MTH 131; and STA 307) with no grade less than C- in any of these courses. Applicants with a grade point average of less than 2.70 for the designated pre-professional courses will not be considered for admission into the professional curriculum.
  • Students must also successfully complete a formal interview and a writing sample before entry into the professional curriculum.
