Biography
Kathy Quick is a Teaching Professor at the University of Rhode Island in the Department of Art and Art History. She holds a Ph.D. in the History of Art & Architecture from Brown University.
Her article titled, “The average child: Lewis Hine, statistics, and ‘social photography,'” was published in Visual Studies. Her research focuses on the statistical turn in American sociology in the early twentieth century and its impact on Hine’s work. Professor Quick teaches an upper-level course on the History of Photography as well as courses on Modern and Contemporary Art. She currently serves on the Faculty Senate (2023 – present) and is the University College Advisor for Studio Art and Art History Majors.
