This program is designed for students who have completed the equivalent of approximately six semesters of college German, and it includes the following courses:

• 4 credits of Advanced German 
• 4 credits of Technical German 

Classes will take place 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday in modern classrooms at the Bard College Berlin campus – located in a quiet, green and secluded neighborhood in Berlin.  Several field trips to nearby sights and interviews with locals will be part of both courses to support the full-immersion learning approach.

We will begin the summer with 4 hours of Advanced German per day, to help you get adjusted to the new learning environment and to get you ready for the first cultural excursions. Then, we will slowly increase the amount of Technical German per week until we have 4 hours of Technical German in the final week:

Week 1:   4 hrs Advanced German
Week 2:   3 hrs Advanced German + 1 hrs Technical German
Week 3:   2 hrs Advanced German + 2 hrs Technical German
Week 4:   2 hrs Advanced German + 2 hrs Technical German
Week 5:   1 hrs Advanced German + 3 hrs Technical German
Week 6:  4 hrs Technical German
