Biography

Niko Tracksdorf is Assistant Professor of German, and Associate Director of the German International Engineering Program at the University of Rhode Island.

Before coming to URI, Niko worked as a Teaching Assistant for the EUROTECH program, a dual degree program in German and Engineering at the University of Connecticut. In recognition of his innovative approaches to combine German and Engineering in the classroom at UConn, he was honored with a university-wide award for Excellence in Teaching. There, he has developed and taught three content-based German language courses for the program: “Roller Coasters – The Thrill of German Engineering,” “Designing the Car of the Future,” and “Intermediate German for Engineers.”  Niko is currently working with a team of co-authors (including Anett Geithner) on a new intercultural and interdisciplinary beginning German textbook. In his role as Associate Director of the German International Engineering Program, he is preparing his students for international study, research, and internship opportunities in German-speaking countries.
