Biography

Sylvia is the Director of Corporate Relations at United Way of Rhode Island, where she leads a team that works with organizations to help them achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility Goals.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship and small scale industries from the University of Delhi. With over 20+ years of retail banking experience, Sylvia has a wealth of experience and expertise in career development, building relationships and identifying business development opportunities. Prior to joining United Way of Rhode Island, Sylvia held key positions at institutions such as BayCoast Bank, Santander Bank and Citizens Bank.

She is passionate about giving back to the community and leverages her experience to make a meaningful impact particularly in addressing the opportunity gap in marginalized communities. She actively serves on the Board of Trustees of The Gordon School in East Providence and the Diversity Task Force of St Andrews School in Barrington. Sylvia also serves as a mentor for both the Rhode Island Black Business Owners Association’s Emerging Leaders Program and their LEAP Mentorship and Training Program.
