The unique interdisciplinary nature of the major will give you a broad understanding of sports media as well as the many ways sports communication expertise translates into industries that span journalism, broadcasting, manufacturing, consulting, technology, management, and many more. A vital part of your major is on and off-campus internships. Sports Media and Communication Majors will have an opportunity to apply for internship experiences with such organizations as ESPN, The Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, The NBA, Nike, URI Athletic Department, WRIU Radio, and Local TV stations, to name a few.

- Available free elective credits
- Good academic and social standing

- ITR 302 Field Experience: 3-12 credits (S/U grade)
- ITR 304 Seminar: 3 credits (letter grade)
