CELS Fellowship
Eligibility and Application Process
- Eligibility: These fellowships are exclusively for URI undergraduates who will continue their studies full-time at URI after the summer.
- Application Timeline: Mentors submit project plans in January and February. An online view book of these plans is compiled and made available by late February to students who have applied or shown interest.
Fellowship Matching and Selection
- Matching Process: In early March, candidates are interviewed by the Program Coordinator and asked to list their preferred fellowships. Applicants are then matched with prospective mentors based on their interests.
- Interviews and Final Selection: Interviews with mentors will begin in late March and final fellowship assignments will be confirmed by April.
Customizing Your Fellowship
Students are encouraged to propose their own fellowship projects by partnering with faculty or relevant organizations. The program supports these initiatives by helping tailor the fellowship to the student’s interests and assisting in finding funding.
Location and Housing
- Fellowship Location: While many fellows are based in Rhode Island, you can arrange to work elsewhere, including overseas, as long as it aligns with your fellowship goals.
- Housing Assistance: For those outside Rhode Island, please review URI Summer Housing website for housing assistance.
