Felipe Espinoza

Biography

Felipe completed his Master’s degree in 2025 through the dual-degree program between the University of Rhode Island and the University of Cantabria (UNICAN), Spain. His research focused on Boussinesq numerical simulations to study wave attenuation by mangroves. His thesis was titled Numerical Investigation of Wave Attenuation by Coastal Vegetation Using A Fully Nonlinear Boussinesq Model.

Originally from Chile, Felipe is a licensed civil engineer with experience in the port, industrial, and mining sectors. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, surfing, CrossFit, and combining travel with his passion for coastal and marine environments.

Felipe is currently working at PROES Consultores in Madrid, Spain.
