E-mail: ramin.safarighaleh@uri.edu

Ramin is a PhD student in Ocean Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. His research focus is on natural and nature-based solutions (NbS) for coastal protection. Currently, he is studying wave and sediment dynamics in vegetated ecosystems such as mangroves and seagrass meadows, using advanced lab experiments to explore these physical processes. His goal is to advance the understanding of how vegetation influences coastal processes like wave attenuation and sediment transport, ultimately contributing to strategies that strengthen coastal resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

Before joining URI, Ramin earned his master’s degree in water management and hydraulic structures at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology in Iran, where he worked on stabilizing and optimizing coastal protection structures. This experience sparked his passion for exploring more sustainable solutions to mitigate coastal hazards.

Outside of his research, Ramin enjoys hiking along the coastline, connecting with beautiful nature. He also hits the gym to focus on his well-being, and he enjoys cooking and trying out different recipes.
