CANCELLED – URI Chinese Culture Club New Year Celebration – Feb 8, 2020

Message from Dr. Yan Sun:

Dear Friends,
Due to the increasing concern of the new coronavirus spread, many Chinese American organizations in MA have cancelled their New Year Celebration activities. This morning, one of the local government organizations is expecting the peak of the disease in about 2 weeks.
Given the circumstances, we decided to cancel this year’s New Year and Spring Lantern Festival.
We wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Chinese New Year, also called Spring Festival, has more than 4,000 years of history. It is the grandest and the most important of all Chinese holidays for Chinese people in China and around the world. The URI Chinese Culture Club will hold its annual new year celebration in Laurel Lane Country Club on Saturday, Feb 8, 2020 (正月十五 – the day of Spring Lantern Festival). Laurel Lane provides an ideal venue as well as delicious food for us to celebrate this traditional holiday with friends and family. We held our new year celebration there last year and everyone agreed the food and service was exceptional.

Date: Saturday, Feb 8, 2019 (the day of Spring Lantern Festival)
Time: 6 pm
Venue
: Laurel Lane Country Club
Address: 309 Laurel Ln, West Kingston, RI
Registration deadline: Feb 1, 2020

Cost: Adult (age 13 and up) – $25
Children (age 4-12) – $12.50

This invitation initially reaches active CCC members, new URI faculty and staff members, and CCC Chinese language program teachers and students. If we still have space left, we will extend the invitation to the broader URI community.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Dr. Yan Sun at yansun@uri.edu.
