Biography

Dr. Brian Plouffe is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology. He is the academic advisor for the Biotechnology program within the department. He obtained his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University with a focus on diagnostic and therapeutic applications of nanomedicine platforms. After Northeastern, Dr. Plouffe was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at MIT. In 2013, Dr. Plouffe co-founded a biotechnology company, Quad Technologies, that was subsequently acquired by Bio-Techne (NASDAQ: TECH) in July 2018. Before joining URI, he also founded the Biomedical Engineering program at Regis College in Weston, MA, serving as the program director from 2016-2021.
