Julia Al-Amir

  • Majors: Human Development and Family Science/Global Language and Area Studies
  • Hometown: Pawtucket, RI

Julia is a wonderful example of students making the most out of every opportunity available at the University of Rhode Island. As a student leader on campus, she has been involved in the Leadership Minor, New Student Programs, and URI ServiceCorps’ Alternative Spring Break, in addition to serving as the president of the Middle Eastern Student Association. She also excels in the classroom, and was chosen for the Beatrice S. Demers Foreign Language Fellowship to study Arabic in Jordan during the Summer of 2022. Julia’s classwork as part of the Human Development and Family Science (HDF) major allowed her to focus on the development of the college-aged student, and gave her an academic home: “I did not feel like I was satisfying my true passions until I found HDF… I have been able to be my true self within my studies and academics.” The College of Health Sciences is proud to have Julia included in the ranks of our soon-to-be alumni.
