Intelligent power conversion systems for various applications

Power Electronics is a research field for a power conversion system, a critical part of all electrical systems. This field has been developed for several decades with the rapid development of semiconductors. It means the hardware is key to the power conversion systems. Since the industry continuously has required high performance of power conversion systems, a power conversion system is also necessary to consider more comprehensive circumstances, not only the power systems inside but also input sources and output systems at the same time. The power converter systems should transit from the traditional hardware system to the cyber-physical system by integrating various sensors and communications with sources and applications, and a new system modeling for cyber-physical systems is also required.

To achieve this goal, the URI Power Electronics lab has been doing groundbreaking works for online and intelligent power conversion systems based on high-performance hardware systems for applications, especially server and network systems, electric vehicles, and drones.
