On April 1, 2025, the CYPHER Research Center for Cyber-Physical Systems Security and Resilience proudly participated in URI Day at the Rhode Island State House. This event highlighted cutting-edge research and talent across the University of Rhode Island, and CYPHER was excited to represent the College of Engineering’s leadership in cybersecurity and AI innovation.
Graduate and undergraduate students from the center engaged visitors and state leaders with hands-on demonstrations of their generative AI projects. Featured exhibits included:
- A live-monitored fish tank that uses AI to track water quality and fish behavior,
- An intelligent robot that identifies and moves colored tiles using visual recognition,
- A Graduate School chatbot designed to streamline communication and improve the student experience,
- An LLM Assistant for operators of Cyber-Physical Systems, like the power grid, to help make decisions and respond to emergencies more confidently and efficiently.
The event was a great opportunity for students to showcase their creativity, technical expertise, and passion for building secure, resilient systems for the future. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and supported our students’ work!
