What Is New Student Welcome?
The New Student Welcome is URI’s official kickoff event for incoming first-year students. It serves as a warm introduction to the URI community, featuring a welcome address from President Marc Parlange, opportunities to meet fellow students, and activities to help you start your journey as a Ram.
Event Highlights
- Welcome Address by President Parlange: Hear from URI’s President as he officially welcomes the Class of 2025 to campus.
- URI 2025 Group Photo: Join in a memorable group photo to commemorate your first URI event.
- Free T-shirts: The first 1,000 students receive a limited-edition URI 2025 T-shirt.
- Complimentary Snacks: Enjoy light refreshments and snacks as you mingle with peers.
- Class Walk-Up: Meet at Barlow Circle at 4:15 PM to walk up to the event together as a class.

The New Student Welcome is part of URI’s O-Week (Orientation Week), running from August 29 to September 5, 2025. O-Week offers a variety of events designed to help new students acclimate to campus life, meet new people, and learn about available resources.
