The Office of Emergency Management is pleased to announce it has been designated as a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador. The Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador initiative is the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) program to recognize NOAA partners who are improving the readiness, responsiveness, and resilience of the nation against extreme weather & climate change. WRN Ambassadors promote Weather-Ready messages to their stakeholders, engage with NOAA, share success stories and lessons learned in preparedness & resiliency, and serve as an example on workplace preparedness.
At URI, the Office of Emergency Management routinely briefs stakeholders on forecasted weather events. OEM coordinates with NWS Boston for the most up-to-date forecast to help community and University officials make decisions surrounding appropriate actions and safety.
