Fire or Explosion

Procedures To Follow

In case of fire:

  • Exit the building right away – stay low (below smoke) and go (leave building).
  • On your way out of the building knock on doors and alert other occupants.
  • Activate the fire alarm system by pulling the manual pull station.
  • Call 9-1-1 (on campus, call 874-2121).
  • Once out, stay out!

See Building Evacuation for further instructions.

If the fire is small and you have received training, attempt to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher or other available means. Do not jeopardize your personal safety.

Never allow fire to come between you and an exit.
