Join us for a week-long celebration dedicated to showcasing the remarkable achievements and innovations of our engineering students. Highlights include a block party sponsored by our world-renowned International Engineering Program, research showcase, college picnic (RSVP required), inspiring talks, capstone design showcase, and more!

MONDAY, APRIL 21

K-12 Research Showcase | 10:00-11:30 AM | FCAE Toray Commons
Join us as we welcome K-12 students exploring the world of engineering research! This showcase highlights the innovative projects young learners are tackling with the support of our faculty and students.

IEP Social Hour | 12:30-1:30 PM | Engineering Quad (rain date Wednesday 4/23)
The International Engineering Program (IEP) invites all IEP students to a casual social hour. Connect with peers, enjoy light refreshments, and gear up for the exciting week ahead!

Kick off E-Week with the International Engineering Program (IEP) at this lively event for all engineering students, faculty, and staff! Enjoy lawn games, create your own grab-and-go snack packs (while supplies last), and even hang out with the URI therapy dog. Plus, enter the raffle for a chance to win an IEP T-shirt!

Undergraduate Research Showcase | 1:30-3:30 PM | FCAE Toray Commons
Discover what engineering students are working on! From first-year researchers in the URISE program (Undergraduate Research in Science and Engineering) to seniors pushing the boundaries of innovation, this showcase highlights a wide range of projects spanning multiple disciplines. Endowed Professor Plenary Lecture| 4:00-5:00 PM | FCAE 010/025
Join us for an engaging lecture from one of the college’s esteemed endowed professors, Professor Haibo He, Robert Haas Endowed Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering, who will present on “Integrated Neural Networks and Reinforcement Learning for Decision Making.”

Graduate Research Showcase and Reception | 5:00-7:00 PM | FCAE, Toray Commons
Explore the cutting-edge research conducted by our graduate students. Engage with poster presentations and dynamic 3-minute talks across diverse engineering disciplines. Stay for the networking reception starting at 5 PM and enjoy light refreshments as you connect with students and faculty.

ASME The Gauntlet | 7:30-9:30 PM | Mackal House
Get ready for an epic night of competition! Hosted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The Gauntlet challenges students to battle it out in dodgeball and knockout. Gather your team, bring your A-game, and see if you have what it takes to emerge victorious in this high-energy showdown!

Graduate School Info Session | 4:45-6:15 PM | Bliss Hall 110
Made by students for students! Ideal for seniors now considering graduate school. Thinking about continuing your education? Interested in pursuing an advanced degree but don’t know what it’s like or where to start? Come speak with current graduate students and learn about their experiences at URI. There will be information on MS/ABM/PhD tracks, one-on-ones with COE representatives, and pizza!

SHPE E-Cup Soccer Tournament | 7:30-9:30 PM | Keaney Gym
Join the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) for the E-Cup Soccer Tournament! Whether you’re playing for glory or just for fun, this friendly yet competitive event is a great way to show off your skills and connect with fellow engineering students. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23

RAMS Soda Bottle Rocket Competition | 3:30-5:30 PM | Engineering Quad
Design, build and launch a soda bottle rocket and compete against the Living Learning RAMS and Dean Marchese to see whose rocket can fly the farthest.  This exciting event will feature student-built rockets blasting into the sky, showcasing creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills in action.  In recognition of URI Day of Giving, if any rockets fly further than Dean Marchese’s rocket, he will double his donation to URI. NSBE/BBWESTS Design-Build Competition | 6:00-7:30 PM | Bliss Hall 210
Put your engineering skills to the test in this exciting Design-Build Competition hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Black & Brown Women in Engineering, Science, Technology, and Society (BBWESTS). Compete in teams to tackle a hands-on engineering challenge that will test your creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Are you up for the challenge? 

THURSDAY, APRIL 24

CCRI Meet-and-Greet | 10:00-10:30 AM | Bliss Hall 410 (not open to the general public)
Join us for a special Meet-and-Greet event aimed at fostering connections between Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) students considering a transfer to our engineering programs.  This is a great opportunity for CCRI students to learn more about our programs and experience the vibrant engineering community at URI.

Get ready to soak up the sun (fingers crossed!) and enjoy time filled with fun, food, and festivities at our Annual College Picnic on the Quad! This cherished tradition brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the College for a memorable outdoor gathering that celebrates the spirit of our engineering community. Please RSVP to ensure we have a proper headcount for ordering food. In case of rain, the picnic will be in Toray Commons of FCAE.

We are honored to welcome Mechanical Engineering alumnus Daniel Harple ’86 as our distinguished speaker. A visionary entrepreneur, investor, inventor, and engineer, Harple has played a pivotal role in shaping the Internet as we know it today. Best known for his contributions to collaborative groupware, Voice over IP, and interactive screen-sharing whiteboards, he has been a driving force behind several key Internet standards used in entertainment and communications systems.
Recognized as an Internet pioneer and serial entrepreneur, Harple has founded multiple technology startups and continues to lead in the innovation space. He is currently the CEO and Managing Director of Amsterdam-based Shamrock Ventures BV. Join us for an inspiring lecture followed by a reception, where you’ll have the opportunity to engage with Harple and learn from his extraordinary career journey.

Put your problem-solving skills to the test as you work in teams to decipher clues, solve puzzles, and beat the clock. Will you escape in time? Gather your friends and see if you have what it takes!

WEM/IISE Family Feud | 7:00-9:00 PM | FCAE 045 and 025C
Put your quick thinking and teamwork to the test in this E-Week twist on the classic game show! Compete with fellow students to guess the most popular survey answers, win points, and claim bragging rights. Gather your squad and get ready for some fast-paced, friendly competition—engineer style!

College of Engineering Advisory Council Meeting | 8:00-4:00 PM | Bliss Hall 410 (not open to the public)
The College of Engineering Advisory Council convenes for its biannual meeting to discuss strategic initiatives, academic and research programs, industry partnerships, and the future of engineering. Their insights and recommendations play a key role in shaping the direction of the college and enhancing its impact on the engineering community.

Capstone Design Showcase | 12:00-4:00 PM* | Toray Commons, FCAE
Prepare to be inspired at the Capstone Design Showcase, where graduating engineering seniors present their year-long design projects in an interactive exhibition. As the culmination of their undergraduate experience, capstone projects demonstrate students’ technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and real-world application of engineering principles. From sustainable energy solutions to robotics, the projects on display represent a diverse range of disciplines and tackle real-world engineering challenges. E-Ball  | 7:00 – 11:00 PM | Narragansett Casino
This event is FREE entry for ALL students! There will be a bus leaving from the bus stop at the Memorial Union that will provide rides to the venue and then back to campus at the end of the event. You are also allowed to drive and park at the venue. Light appetizers will be served, and you have the option to buy unlimited drinks (soda, water) for $5 or buy water for $1 and soda for $2. Join Us! Most events take place in The Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering (FCAE) located on the URI Kingston Campus.
