Applying for Financial Aid:
- Complete the FAFSA for the academic year you are requesting financial aid. Enter URI school code #003414.
- After admission, your FAFSA will be reviewed, if eligible for federal financial aid your award will be posted in e-Campus based on your enrollment status
- Please be advised that your name, address, date of birth and social security number must be accurate in both e-Campus and your FAFSA in order to receive your financial aid award. If you suspect there are any issues, please click Contact Us on the link above.
Federal Student Aid eligibility requirements:
- To be eligible for a federal loan you must have a current academic year FAFSA on file
- You must complete any items on your e-Campus to-do list
- You must be enrolled at least half time for the semester you are seeking financial aid loans
- Undergraduate online students with the greatest demonstrated need, may be eligible for a federal Pell grant if registered for a minimum of 3 credits
Understanding Your Financial Aid Award and Next Steps:
Accelerated, Fully Online Graduate Degree Students
- Accelerated, fully online graduate students may be eligible for Federal unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS loans by completing a FAFSA for the current academic year
- Graduate students must be enrolled at least half time to receive federal loans for that semester
- There are two 7-week sessions within each semester, a graduate student must be enrolled at least half time (4.5 credits) per semester, to receive financial aid. A student can be enrolled half time in 1 session or a combination of both sessions within a term to be financial aid eligible
- To view your financial aid award, log into e-Campus and click View Financial Aid > current term to view the unsubsidized loan offer
- Click to accept your unsubsidized loan offer, please note there is a federal origination fee that will be deducted from the offered loan amount, to view current loan rates and origination fees click here.
- Navigate here and complete your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling.
- Graduate students in need of additional funds, beyond the unsubsidized loan, may apply for a Federal Graduate Plus loan by following the steps listed here: Graduate PLUS Loan Program
Accelerated, Fully Online Undergraduate Degree Students
- Accelerated, fully online undergraduate students may be eligible for Federal subsidized and/or unsubsidized loans by completing a FAFSA for the current academic year
- Undergraduate online students with the greatest demonstrated need, may be eligible for a federal Pell grant if registered for a minimum of 3 credits for a term
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled at least half time to receive federal financial aid loans for that semester
- There are two 7-week sessions within each semester, an undergraduate student must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits) per semester, to receive financial aid. A student can be enrolled half time in 1 session or a combination of both sessions within a term to be financial aid eligible
- To view your financial aid award
- Log into e-Campus and click View Financial Aid > current term to view the unsubsidized loan offer and if eligible, a subsidized loan offer and Pell grant.
- Click accept your unsubsidized and/or subsidized loan offer. Please note there is an origination fee that will be deducted from the offered loan amount. View current loan rates and fees here.
- Navigate here and complete your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling
- Eligible Pell grant recipients will find their Pell grant posted as offered and accepted on their financial aid award screen, there is no further action required.
Accelerated, Fully Online Certificate program Students
- Federal Financial Aid is not available for certificate programs. Students enrolled in a certificate program can apply for a student loan with a third party lender. In partnership with URI, ELM Select provides a list of third party lenders based upon their historical lending with our students.
Financial Aid Disbursement:
- Financial Aid awards are posted for the entire academic year, the total award is divided evenly among fall, spring and summer semesters.
- Financial Aid disbursements take place towards the beginning of the term for full-time enrolled students. For half-time or part-time students disbursement will take place in the second session of that term.
- Aid may be able to be disbursed up to 10 days before the start of a term

- Financial aid funds are disbursed towards your term bill first, any remaining funds will be refunded to the student via our refund partner, Bank Mobile. Please review the Student Refunds process and chose your refund preference
