This program provides funding for either the final two years of undergraduate schooling or fully funds a master’s program in an IT-related field and provides two internships for awardees: one domestic and one overseas in between those school years. After the student’s successful completion of their degree program and the internships, they will be offered a position with the Foreign Service and will be obligated to serve in the Foreign Service for a minimum of five years.
The benefits of the FAIT Fellowship with the Foreign Service includes funding for an academic degree program (either the last two years of undergraduate or a full two-year master’s program), guaranteed internships both in the United States and abroad, as well as a guaranteed job for five years after graduating with that academic degree. The professional networking and experience that a student can gain between all of that is immense and a great opportunity to engage in the information technology field while working for the U.S. government.
