Institute of Current World Affairs Writing Fellowship

The Institute of Current World Affairs Writing Fellowship will supply winning individuals with full funding for themselves and their accompanying family (if applicable) to live and work abroad for two years in order to provide research that is productive to America’s populations about life in other societies. This opportunity is a two-year writing fellowship that requires an individual to send monthly written newsletters to the organization that can be published through the organization’s website and other media platforms. There is no final product for this experience. This is not guaranteed to be a fully funded project, but the institute has done so in the past.

One of the focuses of this organization is deep cultural immersion, so they expect a winning individual to stay in one country and not go back to the United States for the entire two year duration of the program. This allows for both an incredible research opportunity and an incredible opportunity in general for individuals who win this opportunity to learn about another culture. Not only is this an opportunity for research and immersion, but it is a chance to get it fully paid for in exchange for written work that will benefit American citizens in their understandings of other cultures in the world.
