Kakehashi Exchange Program to Japan for Asian American Students

Organized jointly by the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies and the Japan International Cooperation Center, the Kakehashi Program helps students develop an enhanced understanding of Japanese economics, society, history, culture, politics, and diplomatic policies. Students who have been involved in study, research, or activities related to Japan or Japanese language/culture are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be a currently enrolled student, US citizen or permanent resident who is Asian American or have some Asian ancestry, Have NOT participated in a previous program funded by the Japanese government, Have NOT studied/stayed in Japan for more than a year in total, and be physically capable of extensive walking each day.


Program includes round trip airfare, accommodation, transportation, meals, and other fees during the program in Japan.
