DACA

On June 15, 2012, former President Barack Obama created DACA, an immigration status for those who arrived in the United States before their 31st birthday. This allows those individuals to work in the United States and attend school without risk of deportation.

For guidance regarding travel outside of the U.S., DACAmented students are encouraged to visit the USCIS website for up-to-date information.

Things to Consider

The University of Rhode Island supports DACAmented students in having a cultural exchange experience and the Office of International Education has opportunities to participate in exchange programs within the United States such as URI Faculty-Led Programs and the National Student Exchange.
