Various cultures have differing values and beliefs in regards to gender norms, sexuality, and sexual identity. These values and beliefs can play a part in your overall abroad experience. The entire International Center staff is URI Safe Zone trained and able to assist LGBTQ students explore options for studying abroad.

- How does my intended country of travel view LGBTQ identities?
- What are the views on trans, non-cisgender or non-binary individuals?
- Does the country I hope to study in have laws regarding sexual orientation?
- What are the country’s cultural norms regarding same sex displays of affection?
- Is it important for me to be open about my LGBTQ identity while abroad?
