Study Abroad
Veterans
There are various items to consider when studying abroad as a Veteran student. Veteran status can affect the funding a student receives to study abroad. Veteran students are encouraged to work in conjunction with URI Veterans Representatives at Enrollment Services to ensure that your program of choice can be funded with your benefits.
Things to Consider
- Have I spoken to a VA representative to discuss studying abroad?
- Can my financial aid and Veterans’ benefits be applied to my study abroad experience?
- Can the GI Bill be paid directly to a third party study abroad program?
- Who is certifying the credits earned? My home institution or my institution abroad?
- How is the military viewed in my country of interest? What is their role in the everyday lives of people from that country?
