Section 1. Introduction
This manual presents the policies and regulations that govern all persons enrolled in the Graduate School and outlines procedures for them, their advisors, major professors, program directors, department chairs and program committees. Information concerning the organization of the Graduate School, the Graduate Council, the Graduate Faculty, and the authorization for graduate programs and courses will be found in the University Manual. Copies of the University Manual are available in the University Library, in some academic department offices and online (https://web.uri.edu/manual/). Information regarding specific Programs of Study and specific courses will be found in the University of Rhode Island Catalog (https://www.uri.edu/catalog/). The Graduate Council must approve all program requirements. If a change in program requirements occurs after a student has matriculated, the student may complete the requirements as specified for the program when they matriculated, or may shift entirely to the most recently approved program requirements, but may not utilize a combination of both.
