Graduate Administrative Assistantship – Communications Office

 

The Communications office in the College of the Environment and Life Sciences is currently searching for a student for a full-time graduate administrative assistantship for the Spring 2020. The position is renewable each semester depending upon evaluation of work and full-time enrollment continuation in a PhD or Master’s level graduate program at URI.  Please see the description of duties below.

 

Description of Duties for Graduate Administrative Assistant

  • Assist the Communications Manager for the College and across departments within the College pertaining to the implementation, maintenance, and proliferation of on-line processing and web site development.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Serve as the IT support assistant with both web and desktop support.
  • Assist the Communications Manager in resolving helpdesk tickets, troubleshoot computers, perform wordpress web updates etc.
  • Interface with the various College department resources as warranted for preliminary assessment of department website requirements and to demonstrate enhancements and standards that could impact their websites

 

Required Skills:

  • Should have experience in WordPress, HTML/XHTML, XML, CSS and Java Script.
  • Must have basic knowledge in setting up domain accounts, network drives and servers.
  • Should have experience in Desktop support.
  • Should have experience with Windows and Mac Operating system, installing drivers, connecting printers. etc.
  • Should have knowledge in Photoshop.

Hours:  20 hrs per week, flexible (between 9AM to 6PM)
Compensation:  Tuition remission and stipend consistent with graduate administrative assistantship. Hourly work is available in summers.
