Deadline: October 12, 2022 | The National Geographic Society has issued a request for proposals for projects related to water. Through this RFP, National Geographic seeks innovative photography, short film, writing, data visualization, and other storytelling proposals to help water users understand the issues around global water sustainability. This work will be supported by data, science, and cartography provided by the National Geographic-supported World Water Map developed by Utrecht University. Applicants may request up to $20,000 to support projects that center around the following themes related to water: interconnectedness, justice, and change and adaptation.
Deadline: October 13, 2022 | The Burroughs Wellcome Fund serves and strengthens society by nurturing a diverse group of leaders in biomedical sciences to improve human health through education and powering discovery in frontiers of greatest need. To that end, the fund invites applications for its Climate Change and Human Health Seed Grants program, which aims to stimulate the growth of new connections between scholars working in largely disconnected fields who could together change the course of climate change’s impact on human health. Over the next two years, BWF will dedicate $1 million to supporting small, early-stage grants of between $2500 and $50,000 toward achieving this goal.
Deadline: October 14, 2022 | The mission of the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund is to support fundamental research in the petroleum field and to develop the next generation of engineers and scientists through advanced scientific education. The organization invites applications for its Doctoral New Investigator grants program. Through the program, grants of up to $110,000 over two years will be awarded in support of original research conducted per the PRF Transfer Agreement, which states that the recipient (ACS) shall use all funds exclusively for advanced scientific education and fundamental research in the “petroleum field,” which may include any field of pure science which in the judgment of (ACS) may afford a basis for subsequent research directly connected with the petroleum field.
Deadline: October 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. ET (Letters of Intent) | The American Association for Cancer Research invites applications for the Lustgarten Foundation-AACR Career Development Award for Pancreatic Cancer Research which was established to honor the life and legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This program intends to support the development and diversity of talent working in pancreatic cancer research. The award represents a joint effort to support the career advancement of a female scientist engaged in pancreatic cancer research. It will provide $300,000 over three years for expenses related to the research project, which may include the salary and benefits of the grant recipient (grant recipient must devote at least 75 percent of their total effort to pancreatic cancer research), any collaborators, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs associated with graduate student’s education and training), or research assistants; research/laboratory supplies; equipment; publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project; and other research expenses.
Deadline: October 18, 2022 | The First Nations Development Institute invites applications for the Native Agriculture and Food Systems Scholarships, which seek to encourage more Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian college students to enter agriculture and food systems fields to better assist their communities with their food systems efforts. Through the program, First Nations will award 20 to 25 scholarships totaling $1,000 to $1,500 for the 2022-23 academic school year to Native college students majoring in agriculture and agriculture-related fields.
Deadline: November 4, 2022 | The Medical Research Grants program awards grants of up to $25,000 each. Beginning in 2022, there are two funding opportunities: (1) to provide support to new investigators as seed money or for pilot projects; and (2) to provide support to improve already highly rated NIH research proposals for re-submission. The Foundation encourages biomedical researchers throughout Rhode Island to apply for grant support for laboratory, clinical and population-based research. In addition to limited funding for general medical research, areas of interest with designated funding include infectious diseases, cardiac research, coronary artery disease, cerebral accidents, cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, diabetes, allergies, and performance enhancing substances. Deadline: Open | Evidence for Action (E4A), a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, funds research that expands the evidence needed to build a Culture of Health, with an explicit emphasis on advancing racial equity. E4A prioritizes research to evaluate specific interventions that have the potential to counteract the harms of structural and systemic racism and improve health, well-being, and equity outcomes. This funding is focused on studies about upstream causes of health inequities, such as the systems, structures, laws, policies, norms, and practices that determine the distribution of resources and opportunities, which in turn influence individuals’ options and behaviors. Research should center on communities exhibiting the greatest health burdens and be able to inform a specific course of action and/or establish beneficial practices, not stop at characterizing or documenting the extent of a problem.
Deadline: Open | Robert Wood Johnson Foundation seeks proposals that are primed to influence health equity in the future. Ideas that address any of these four areas of focus are encouraged: Future of Evidence; Future of Social Interaction; Future of Food; Future of Work. Additionally, ideas that might fall outside of these four focus areas, but which offer unique approaches to advancing health equity and our progress toward a Culture of Health are welcome. |
