Graduate Assistantship: DEI Undergraduate Research Program Coordinator

Role Description

URI ESTEEMED and URI MARC U*STAR – both NIH-funded undergraduate research programs for historically underrepresented students – seek a graduate student to support programmatic professional development and mentoring activities. Candidates should have a passion for mentoring undergraduate students, a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), strong communication and organizational skills, and an interest in expanding their leadership skills. Applicants from any academic discipline are encouraged to apply and preference will be given to students in STEM, education, and related fields. 

Responsibilities will include: (1) coordinating and running weekly meetings, (2) assisting with professional development workshops, (3) providing one-on-one support and mentoring to ESTEEMED and MARC trainees, and (4) program website maintenance and social media oversight. 

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Suites. Experience with WordPress and Qualtrics is a plus. We seek applicants with experience in and enthusiasm for mentoring undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds. 

The position requires 20 hours per week during the academic year with the potential for summer employment. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
