Fenina Buttler

Biography

Fenina manages our websites, social media, newsletters and other digital communications that connect the URI grad community with opportunities and resources. She highlights stories that reflect the diversity and excellence of our graduate community, and promote the #1 public university in New England to prospective students.

Fenina brings over a decade of experience in strategic communications, graphic design and photography. She is passionate about creating meaningful connections through digital storytelling that blend creativity with strategy to make information accessible and engaging. Before joining the URI Grad School, she gained extensive experience in communications and outreach across nonprofit, academic, and science-focused organizations, where she developed skills in strategic messaging, content design, and engagement of diverse audiences. She has lived in Germany, Hawai‘i, and Australia while completing her M.Sc., and her work has taken her to all seven continents.

Outside of work, Fenina is an accredited URI Master Gardener volunteer (class of 2023) and enjoys leading community projects that promote sustainability and environmental education. She has been serving as a regional coordinator and council member for the URI Master Gardener Program since 2024. She is passionate about initiatives that foster inclusion and help our community build meaningful connections with the environment, learn to grow food and make gardening accessible to everyone.
