Biography

I am a second year PhD student at URI in the BES Evolution and Marine Biology program. I am a member of the Putnam Lab and study tropical corals and their resilience to climate change and warming oceans. I am originally from Belgium, but grew up in the US in Atlanta and Northern California. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago in Ecology and Evolution, and most recently worked as a research technician at Penn State University. As a queer woman in STEM/Academia, I find it incredibly important to continue to grow my knowledge in diversity and inclusion and to contribute to making the spaces I occupy more inclusive and equitable for all people. I am very excited to be at URI and to work with the community as a DIBP facilitator to participate in and help lead conversations about how we can make the URI graduate community safer for all students.
