Biography
Adrienne Jones Daly is a lecturer in First-Year Writing with the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. She taught English overseas and has worked in writing centers in the U.S. and Canada. Since 2006, she has also been a freelance editor and dissertation coach. She came to URI as a doctoral student and began teaching with the Department of Writing and Rhetoric in 2014.
Her dissertation research combined an interest in translanguaging (using more than one language to communicate) with the teaching of writing. She studied how instructors can bring their own language histories and practices into the classroom as valuable resources. Her interest in linguistic diversity is paired with a desire for linguistic justice and the belief that all language practices are valuable and powerful.
When not teaching, she can usually be found spending time with her young family—or escaping them by immersing herself in a good book.
