Dr. Munksgaard joined the Department of Communication Studies at URI as a Lecturer in 2011. With over ten years of award-winning teaching experience, he has taught a wide variety of courses dealing with the rhetoric of hate speech, new media, media history, and communication fundamentals.


Dr. Munksgaard’s research focuses primarily on the “dark side” of intercultural communication in the form of hate speech and antipathy, particularly online hate speech, Islamophobic rhetoric, and the alt-right.
