Biography

Josh Brewer is a part-time faculty member in the University of Rhode Island’s Harrington School of Communication and Media, where he teaches courses exploring the intersection of sports, data, technology, and communication.

Professionally, Josh works in VIP operations at DraftKings and previously worked at ESPN, bringing experience across sports media, sports technology, and sports betting into the classroom. His teaching focuses on how data and technology are changing the way sports are analyzed, communicated, and experienced, with topics including sports analytics, sports betting, data visualization and storytelling, player tracking and biometrics, and fan engagement.

Josh is based in New York City. Outside of work and the classroom, Josh is an avid cyclist and stays active playing basketball, softball and ultimate frisbee. He also volunteers with transportation advocacy organizations working to improve transit and public space in NYC.
