BIO
Born in New York City, Tracy Kidder attended Phillips Academy, graduated from Harvard University and studied at the University of Iowa. After graduating with a B.A. in 1967 he served a full tour of duty in Vietnam. He is the author of Strength in What Remains, My Detachment, Home Town, Old Friends, Among Schoolchildren, House, and The Soul of a New Machine. He has won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Award, and many other literary prizes. His enormously influential book Mountains Beyond Mountains (2003) captures two global health crises-tuberculosis and AIDS through the eyes of a single-minded physician bent on improving the health of some of the poorest people on the planet. Kidder lives with his wife and family in Western Massachusetts.
