Alumna, Alex Cole, awarded prestigious fellowship

Congratulations to health studies graduate, Alexandra (Alex) Cole, MHA!

Alex is starting an an 18-month competitive training program, Emory Healthcare’s Operations Development Program, in Atlanta, GA. This prestigious program is designed to help participants gain the skills, experience, and business knowledge of operations in academic faculty practices.

Alex graduated from University of Missouri in 2016 with a Masters in Health Administration (MHA). After earning her MHA, Alex began working at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, MO where she served as a revenue cycle consultant. Cerner Corporation provides health information technology (HIT) solutions, services, devices and hardware, and has more than 28,000 employees globally.

Through her work at Cerner Corporation, Alex says she “meet a lot of great friends and was able to travel around the country.” According to Alex, “Cerner is a great place for new professionals, they hire a lot of consultants directly out of college. Health Studies graduates should consider exploring opportunities at Cerner.”

During here time at URI, Alex completed an internship with URI Health Services and was the recipient of the outstanding health studies graduate award. She earned her BS in health studies from URI in three years, graduating in 2015.

Alex, her boyfriend, Austin, and their dog, Charlie, have just relocated from Kansas City, MO to Atlanta, GA.
